Protocol for Visitors Attending an Athletic Commission Meeting |
The athletic program coaching staff is comprised of volunteers. They include parents and grandparents of the students, young men and women who are alumni of St. Cyril's, and those people that have been dedicated to the athletic program for many years. The Athletic Commission acts responsibly by providing a selection process for coaching assignments and setting guidelines for the coaching staff that guarantees their professionalism. The commission members have the responsibility to operate the program and raise the necessary funds to insure that the goals of a quality and competitive athletic program are achieved and that these funds are used strictly for the procurement of athletic equipment, supplies and activities related to the athletic program. Most important is the parental support given to the Athletic Commission, for without it, the program could not survive.
The SS. Cyril & Methodius Athletic Program provides an instructional
sports program for students of SS. Cyril and Methodius School in grades 4,
5, and 6 and a competitive sports program for students of SS. Cyril and
Methodius in grades 7 and 8 as an extension of the SS. Cyril Methodius
School academic program. The extra-curricular athletic program will be
available to all students and will follow a "no cur policy providing
available resources. Participants will learn the fundamentals of each sport
and be given the opportunity to develop strong, healthy, and disciplined
minds and bodies. Participants will also develop a sense of good
sportsmanship, fair play and team spirit.
SS. Cyril and Methodius School is concerned with the development of the whole person - the religious, moral, social and academic dimensions, as well as, physical development. We believe that participation in athletics is an important part of student development. Through participation in the SS. Cyril and Methodius Athletic Program, students may develop life-long skills and positive values. These values include leadership, healthful living habits, self discipline, integrity, team work, respect for rules and regulations, and the ability to participate with dignity and grace.
