The Greek cross is inscribed in a circular blue field that symbolizes the universe and the need for solidarity. The cross sustains and upholds humanity gathered in the continents represented by the five doves. The cross is the same color as the doves, signifying the Incarnation whereby God enters into human history and redeems it. The light that comes from the center of the design represents Christ, who is the light of the world. Building and Renovating for the Future

Since its inception in 1884, the parish community of SS. Cyril & Methodius has been a faith community rooted in a rich tradition of worship, service, and prayer. Attempting to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, we share our time, talents, and treasures to enrich the faithful lives of our families and ourselves. As disciples of the Lord, we are committed to using our resources to build a Kingdom of God. Blessed with a strong foundation from previous generations, we now find ourselves at a crossroads for our parish.

Our church building and grounds once were able to provide service and comfort to a moderately growing parish family, but are now pushed to their limits by our increasing growth. Years of multiple, patchwork solutions to capital problems have left us with major capital repair needs. The tremendous growth of our parish presents us with an opportunity to expand our parish ministries and programs. “Sharing Christ’s Gifts Millennium Campaign” is our opportunity to stand on the shoulders of many faithful people before us to give our gifts to the future. Through this Stewardship campaign, we are encouraged to reflect on all the Lord has given us. We hope to raise enough funds to build a new foundation, both structurally and financially, for our parish today and the future. With these funds, we can:

  • Completely repair the interior and exterior of the bell tower
  • Repair and restore the Rose Window in the choir loft
  • Repair and restore all other stained glass windows throughout the body of the Church
  • Repair the Church roof
  • Restore the Pipe Organ
  • Repair of the Church ceiling and interior and exterior walls to include tuck-pointing of the exterior
  • Repair the roofs and external walls of the Rectory, convent, and Parish Education Building
  • Continue our parking lot expansion
  • Retire our existing Parish debt
  • Reconstruct a new entrance to our Church to include landscaping

This campaign, which is designed to assist SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish, is unlike previous campaigns because it is a complete Archdiocesan effort. A percentage of the funds we raise will assist the Archdiocese in supporting specific, previously targeted needs, namely capital help for needy parishes, repairs at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, and the Bishop Lyne Retirement Home for priests in Lemont.

We, the family of SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish, know that all of our blessings come from the Lord, Jesus Christ. We ask our Lord to work through us and inspire us to be trustworthy Stewards of His gifts. We know the challenge of this campaign is great, but the reward will be greater.
