SS. Cyril and Methodius Finance Committee Parish Finance Report

Gene Hunziker

Welcome to our initial issue of the Parish Financial Report. It is the intention of these periodic reports to communicate to the parishioners the financial status of the parish and school accurately, clearly and on a timely basis.

As a new organization, the Finance Committee will work closely with Father Larry in the development of a plan that will address both the current and long-term financial needs of our parish. While we are one of the stronger parishes in the Archdiocese, as Father points out in his article, we do face multiple challenges in the months and years ahead.

Snapshot of our Parish

Number of Priests:  2
Number of Families in the Parish  1910
Number of Religious Education Students  410
Number of Staff Members  7
Number of Ministries  16
Number of School Children  610
Number of Baptisms  139
Number of Marriages  53

We have debt that needs to be retired, parts of our facilities require immediate attention and less critical areas that are showing the effects of time and weather will be considered as a part of our longer term plans. Future expansion alternatives will also need to be taken into consideration as we look to provide for the demands of a growing Catholic community. In the months to come, we will be providing you with detailed plans that address these issues.

Those that have preceded us have sacrificed much and provided us with a truly beautiful church. It is now up to us, the current stewards of these facilities, to do our part.

Did You Know?

  1. Did you know that 75 families registered in the parish in the last three months?
  2. Did you know that 2,800 people come to church each week?
  3. Did you know there are over 1,000 children receiving Religious Education?
  4. Did you know the average Sunday collection is $13,295.00?
  5. Did you know that only 48% of Parishioners are using envelopes?
  6. Did you know that the Parish has a debt of $665,000.00?

As a part of this report you will find our most recent financial report that summarizes our current situation. It is important to note that during this last year we acquired two homes on Ledochowski. These are expenses that we will not incur this year and without these purchases we would have realized a net income instead of the deficit that is shown. Please review these numbers. They are interesting and informative. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask one of the members of your finance committee. They have taken a lot of time to understand the finances of our parish. We welcome your questions and comments.

Sincerely,
Eugene C. Hunziker
President - Finance Committee
