About SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish and School

  • The first mass offered at SS. Cyril and Methodius took place on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1884.
  • Tragedy struck on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 1928 when the church and rectory were destroyed by fire.
  • January 1, 1930 celebrated the first mass in our newly constructed church.
  • In January of 1958 Father Gilewski initiated the fundraising that built our present school.
  • September 1960 celebrated the beginning of SS. Cyril and Methodius School.
  • May 1984 Joseph Cardinal Bemadin celebrated the 100 year birthday of our parish by presiding as the main celebrant at an honorary Mass.
  • A new parish hall was added to our school and formally dedicated on August 24, 1997 by the Most Reverend Bishop German.
