Historical Facts
About SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish and School
- The first mass offered at SS. Cyril and Methodius took place on Palm
Sunday, April 6, 1884.
- Tragedy struck on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 1928 when the church and
rectory were destroyed by fire.
- January 1, 1930 celebrated the first mass in our newly constructed church.
- In January of 1958 Father Gilewski initiated the fundraising that built
our present school.
- September 1960 celebrated the beginning of SS. Cyril and Methodius School.
- May 1984 Joseph Cardinal Bemadin celebrated the 100 year birthday of our
parish by presiding as the main celebrant at an honorary Mass.
- A new parish hall was added to our school and formally dedicated on August
24, 1997 by the Most Reverend Bishop German.
