Important Legislative Information from Zachary Wichmann of the Catholic Conference In Springfield was issued to all those concerned with funding Catholic schools. SB783 is sitting on the Governor's desk waiting to be signed. Is highly encouraged that all concerned contact the governor's office and urge him to sign SB783.

SB 783 is the bill funding the Safety Block Grant. This money is used to defray the mandatory costs nonpublic schools must pay for various Health and Safety requirements such as AEDs and background checks.

SS. Cyril & Methodius is to receive $19,890.00 from this grant, but receives nothing if the Governor does not sign this bill.

Please contact others who have their children in other catholic schools or are concerned about catholic education as well.

The bill provides about $32/child. Here are some totals to be received for other catholic schools in the Cook County Area:

White Pines Academy $4,485.00
St. Als St. Pats $10,296.00
Mount Assisi High School $12,285.00
St. Joseph High School $30,927.00

Please CALL or USE THE LINK BELOW to express your concern to the Governor's office. Identify yourself and the school you are from and ask him to "sign Senate Bill 783 so that nonpublic schools can receive reimbursement for mandated health and safety measures. The health and safety of our children are as important as any!"
