School Administrators and staff
Principal
Mrs. Shirley A. Tkachuk
I attended St. Daniel the Prophet Elementary School and John F. Kennedy High
School. My undergraduate work was completed at the University of
Illinois-Chicago and in 1977 I received my B.A. in Elementary Education. My
graduate studies were done at St. Xavier University, and I received an M.A.
in School Administration and Supervision. I am certified to teach grades K-9
along with being certified to administer K-12 schools in Illinois.
For 29 years I taught at St. Patricia School in Hickory Hills. Besides
being a fulltime classroom teacher I had the opportunity to work with
different parent and student organizations, serve on local and archdiocesan
committees, organize, teach, and administer their Summer School Program, and
do private tutoring.
I also participated in writing the recently completed Language Arts and
Science Curriculums for the Archdiocese of Chicago, attended a national
conference and local workshops to learn the specifics of curriculum mapping
and backwards design along with developing a series of graduate level
courses for teachers in conjunction with St. Xavier University.
I am a member of The Association for Supervision and Curriculum
Development, The Archdiocesan Principal’s Association, The National Catholic
Educational Association, The International Reading Association, The Illinois
Reading Council, The South Suburban Reading Council, and Kappa Delta Pi
(International Honor Society in Education).
