Introduction To Your SSCM Parish Pastoral Council
During selected masses this weekend, the
Parish Pastoral Council will be introduced. For those masses at which
the Council will not be present, we are taking this opportunity to introduce
ourselves and provide information about who we are and what we do for the
Parish.
The Parish Pastoral Council is a group of nine parishioners who, with
Father Larry, serve in leadership of the Parish to promote and support the
Parish Mission Statement, the gospel message, Christian values and the
Mission of the Church. We aid in the establishment of policies and
procedures relevant to the operation of the Parish; we work to create and
maintain vehicles of communication between the Parish and the membership of
the Parish and define the needs of the Parish.
We are currently working on a Parish Ministry Fair for this fall and
future plans for revising the Parish Ministry Directory as well as planning
next year’s Block Party in July.
However, our biggest challenge for the next several years is to promote
the evangelization of our Parish. In other words, how do we bring people
back to the Parish? As a result of this challenge, the Council is soliciting
the input of our Parish Council Commissions that include Education, Parish
Life, Human Concerns and Spiritual Life. But we are not limiting our request
to the Commissions and their ministries and clubs. We are also asking you
for your input. Consider several thoughts. How can we reach out to those who
are not currently practicing their Catholic faith on a regular basis? How
can we share the good news of our Parish with those who are not with us
regularly? In what ways can we be more welcoming and inviting as a Parish
community?
We welcome your thoughts. You can e-mail your thoughts to
swoynerowski@yahoo.com . The
council is forming an Evangelization Ministry to collect everyone’s ideas
and thoughts.
Look for updates on our progress in future News from the Pews editions.
