Felician Sisters

The first contingent of Felician Sisters came to Lemont, in 1884, at
the request of Father Moczygemba. The first superior and principal of the school was
Sister Mary Wenceslaus. The teaching sisters were Sister Mary Josephine, Sister Mary
Colleta and a candidate nun, Sister Michalene who later took the name of Sister Mary
Scholestica after professing her final vows. There, no doubt, are some of you who recall
the names of these early pioneer teaching sisters. The parishioners are very grateful, to
these good nuns for they have accomplished much in their teaching efforts and sent forth
children of good Christian, moral standards. In our humble way may we say "Thank you
and God bless you." |
